A Dream Deferred

32 x 70.5 inches mixed charcoal on paper

In many ways, in the heat of the violence of the Civil Rights Movement, the dream of the brave activists  striving for a free and equal society was “A Dream Deferred” – a dream that could only be realized with prolonged courage and persistence. Such persistence paid off.  The Civil Rights Movement can attribute much of its success to the tactic of nonviolence contrasting with the exposure of violence-prone policemen, sheriffs, vigilante groups, and other defenders of the status quo.
